As a multimedia journalist, I am fascinated by the ways in which visuals and sound can elevate the news experience and change perceptions.

"Liquid Matters - Real droplets form the Danish bar and beverage industry"

In-between the 1st and 2nd lockdown in Denmark, I jumped back behind the bar to supplement my income as a freelance writer. Although gastronomy enjoys a heightened status in Danish society, I noticed a lack of recognition for what was going on in the cocktail scene. Combining my background in journalism with my knowledge on the topic, Icreated Liquid Matters - a newsletter and podcast voicing the opinion, experience and know-how of Danish bar professionals to shine a light on the issues, happenings and key topics driving the agenda in the industry.

"Radio LIT - Lost in Translation"

In Summer 2020, Cam and I were frustrated. The discrepancy between the expectations of Internationals coming to Denmark and the reality of life here was growing. There is plenty of media reporting on life in Denmark for internationals, but none of them seems to dig deep enough to uncover explanations and solutions to the real challenges, issues and cultural differences that Internationals face in Denmark.

So, we decided to explore the discrepancy and use our own backgrounds and network to make Danes and Internationals come together over the shared question of "Why is it like this - and how can we change it?"

"COVID-19 News from Denmark in English"

On March 11th 2020, the Danish government announced to the nation that Denmark would go on lockdown following a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases. I translated the most important information into English and posted it on my Facebook so that my international friends could be informed. The response was overwhelming, revealing a clear need for short and concise news updates in English. And so, I started a news brief podcast in English.

The April 26th episode is a longer in-depth exploration into the reopening of Danish society.

"Bente & Miriam (Danish)"

In 2019, I sat down with my mom and started recording our conversations. Having shared similar experiences of living abroad and coming back to Denmark, we decided to explore the differences and similarities that 30+ years put between two women of the same household.

Cocktail reporting - Bacardi Legacy

In 2019, I covered the Bacardi Legacy Nordic final as part of Cocktails of Copenhagen. The video below is my report on the final and interview with the Danish finalist, Nicklas Jørgensen. The video mixes clips we filmed at the final in Stockholm, my interview with Nicklas, and his cocktail promotion video courtesy of Bacardi Denmark.

Lockdown LIVE - Interviews with the industry

During the Danish COVID-19 lockdown, I explored Facebook LIVE as a tool to bring the bar industry together. Throughout lockdown, I made several interviews with Denmark-based industry experts on topics and trends, from coping with the financial impact of COVID-19 to foraging ingredients for cocktails.

The interview below was the last before lockdown lifted, where I spoke to bar owner and founding member of Scandinavian Agave Project, Carl Wrangel, about sustainability and longevity in the agave industry.
